Mouse Insect

What is the purpose of a bed base? Why is underestimated if only a mattress?

I realize that are used to maintain the upper bed, but why? Is it to protect yourself from mice or insects? Some kind of status symbol (I'm higher than you, etc.)? A peculiar tradition of a Scandinavian country share the belief in a strange Norse God? Please help. I do not have much time.

The real reason bed base, foundation, box spring mattress is to support a more uniform and secure, and allow the mattress of some "flex" make the bed more comfortable, allowing the mattress support better and make the mattress last longer. Although people believe they have seen as you said, who feel they are better than you, because they are higher, ridiculous. If you really want to get technical, the box spring will raise adequate soil for out of the cold air that travels along the floor on cold winter nights.

About Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are a joy for a birdwatcher to observe. They are found only in the Western Hemisphere from north to Alaska and the southeastern Canadian Maritimes and south to southern Chile. There are approximately 350 species of hummingbirds with 320 species found in the tropics. Within the family of hummingbirds are the smallest birds in the world, the bee hummingbird of Cuba to 2.17 inches (5.5 cm) and weight 1.95gm (0.07 ounces). Hummingbirds range in size from 2 inches to 8 inches.

The hummingbird derives its name from the buzz that is caused by its rapid wingbeat. In general, flutter is so fast that the individual sees only a blur as most of these birds flap their wings 50 times per second. Flutter speed depends on the size of bird, the largest the giant hummingbird, have a flutter rate of 10-15 times per second. The fastest rate recorded about 80 times per second, in a Amethyst Woodstar small, and the slightly smaller Bee Hummingbird - the world's smallest bird - may have an even faster pace. The wing of a hummingbird is flexible in the shoulder, but inflexible at the wrist, allowing them to fly in many different directions. Fly to the right, left, up, down, backward and even reversed. To get away from the flowers on which feed hummingbirds fly backwards and are the only bird capable of flying backwards. While other birds its power of flight of the descent only, hummingbirds also have the force of the UP-stroke. Although fly very fast, suddenly they can stop and make a soft landing. They are so light that create a much more dynamic. Hummingbirds have poorly developed feet, so although they can perch and will when feeding or resting, not walking. To make progress, even along a branch, flying. Hummingbirds lift from perches without pushing, stand entirely on their own power, flapping their wings at almost full speed before takeoff. Hummingbirds sleep perched on branches with their neck retracted his head forward, the project Bill upward at a sharp angle, and feathers fluffed.

It is believed that hummingbirds live for only 3 to 4 years. They have a fast heartbeat, with a rate of 1260 beats per minute have been measured in a Blue-throated Hummingbird. In torpid hummingbirds, the heart rate can drop to 50-180 per minute. Your heart rate fast and rapid wing motion required to feed regularly throughout the day. It is reported to be fed every 10 minutes and may consume 2 / 3 of its weight body in one day. An important part of a hummingbird's diet is the nectar of flowers and get their accounts are perfectly suited to the different types of flowers they feed on. Some hummingbirds have especially curved or elongated bills that allow them to feed on special flowers, for example, white-tipped Sicklebill hummingbird, whose bill curved downward to extract nectar from Heliconia. The Ruby-Topaz Hummingbird has a short and slightly decurved bill that adapts to feed on the flowers of Ixora bush. The Blue-tailed Emerald has a short bill that is suitable for food in the hibiscus flower. The Copper-rumped Hummingbird has a long straight bill that allows mid-size feed tube shaped flowers such as Allamanda. In feeding, hummingbirds use their tongue to lick nectar in a manner similar to cats lapping milk. His tongue can extend to a distance equal to the length of the peak. Because hummingbirds feed accidentally pick up the and how they move pollen from flower to flower, which help the flowers to reproduce.

Hummingbirds have little or no sense of smell, so color is important for a hummingbird search process for locating flowers with nectar. While visiting a flower that has sufficient nectar they prefer flowers are red to orange. It is believed that there are several reasons for this preference of color. Prominent red flowers on a green background and so are easier to see the hummingbird. Also is believed that because hummingbirds compete with insects for nectar they choose flowers that are less likely to be visited by insects. Most insects does not look good at the red end of the color spectrum and therefore can not visit red flowers while hummingbirds see the full visible spectrum.

Hummingbirds also need protein to build muscles, what they eat insects. They prefer to feed on small spiders and slow flying insects such as mosquitoes, small wasps and grasshoppers that are rather optimistic in the air and easy to catch. Also probe the bark and foliage for insects such as aphids, spiders, caterpillars and insect eggs. It is believed that up to half of their diet consists of small insects. Hummingbirds are able to live for long periods without nectar as a component of their diet. It can quickly convert ingested fat reserves and recently the insects to energy when deprived of nectar. Hummingbirds compete for nectar and insects and thus develop the territories, who guard aggressively. They will fight with other hummingbirds that enter their territory, but rarely serious damage inflicted during these fights. Also when food sources are scarce to fight to protect their source.

Most hummingbirds are green, except for hermits, which are mainly brown, and are known for iridescence. These bright, iridescent colors of hummingbird feathers are caused by the refraction of incident light by the structures of certain feathers. These structures light split into its component colors, and only certain frequencies are refracted the viewer. The brown color in some hummingbirds is the result of pigmentation however. Hummingbirds groom with their bills and claws, using oil from a gland near its tail. They also use their claws like a comb to groom his head and neck. Sunbathers positioning of their chest to the sun and fluffing out, enlargement his neck and spreading its tail. Hummingbirds also take baths with water in shallow pools or cupped leaves. Flapping their wings or pull them toward back, while lifting and spreading his tail, chin and dip their bellies into the water. Sometimes you can see sitting on a bare branch allowing rain soaked to the skin. After bathing and drying strut their feathers.

Hummingbirds build cup shaped nests, however hermits build hanging nests long usually attached to the leaves. Male hummingbirds not conducive to building a nest or young people's attention. All food is for both women. When feeding the female lands on the side of the nest, arches her back, stretches his neck, raised his head, and maintains its draft law provides for regurgitate the partly digested nectar and insects to their babies. Her throat swells and pumps her beak like a sewing needle.

Although several larger birds, snakes, mammals raid hummingbird nests of eggs and chicks, this is not a major cause of death.
